This research addresses the underexamined subject of online ‘racist misinformation’ in Australia. Racist misinformation represents the nexus of two central challenges to social cohesion in the digital age: racism and misinformation online. These two issues are intimately linked, and misinformation often taps into existing currents of racism. Despite this, the issue of racist misinformation has received very little attention, as research and policy addressing these two issues have remained largely separate.
